Physical Spotting Test (Important & Urgent)

This is a very important and urgent message. I encourage you (replace 'encourage' with 'order') to spend a short minute or two reading this.  For your own sake, do read what is listed below.

16 February

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our group member Yasha Lai chose a perfect, fine sunny noon of Friday 15 February to fall ill and absent herself from school. We were then unable to coordinate ourselves properly due to lack of enough directors for the test. Therefore, we missed our first and probably final opportunity to do a physical test which would give concrete evidence for our investigation.

We are now postponing the physical spotting test to Monday, the 18th of February. Here are the complete exact procedures after learning from our failure of the Friday 'trial run'. Read carefully and brief yourself:

Preparation
  • Materials Required: Binoculars, Digital & ERDL Camouflage uniforms, results record form (with me)
  • Camouflaged subjects will hide in forest opposite Gate B (which is outside General Office).
  • Spotters will wait behind the wall at Gate B, until it is their turn to spot. They are NOT supposed to go outside the wall or look at the forest, as it will make their results inaccurate.
  • Spotters will stand just outside Gate B when told to come and spot.
  • SSelect 2, SSelect 3, SSelect 5, DSelect 4, and DSelect 1 are plausible locations for camouflaging the subjects.

Conducting of Test
  • We are recording down the amount of time taken to spot someone camouflaged in either digital or striped camouflage through a binoculars.
  • Held during day, non-rainy time.
  • The two camouflaged people will be camouflaged simultaneously at different places in the forest.
  • When the spotter is brought out, he will be given a triangulation of an area where the subject he is supposed to find first is at. This is pointed out to the spotter. The other camouflaged subject (striped)’s triangulated area will only pointed out after first subject is found.
  • Start with digital camouflage first. Point out the estimated range where the subject is at. This will be about 7-10m.
  • Time the spotter with stopwatch after signaling him to start. He will tell us to stop with a verbal signal.
  • When he shouts, we stop the timer, and record it down according to the type of camouflage he was supposed to find.
  • The spotter will have to stop using the binoculars until he is told to start to spot for the other camouflaged subject.
  • Again, point out triangulated area. Time with stopwatch, and record down the results when he is done.
  • Repeat procedure for other spotters.

Please read and understand all that we need to do on that day, so that none of our precious, crucial time. is wasted.
